 Entertainment News:
  • Raise the roof
Storm clouds threatened in the distance as William Cahill stood on a platform above a 25-foot-tall thatched sunshade at Hogle Zoo. As he touched up the New Jersey-grown reeds that make up the roof of the zoo's new Elephant Encounter exhibit, some visitors managed to get his attention. His bushy red beard and metal-rimmed glasses popped into view as Cahill waved from his metal nest attached to a man lift.

  • Venue's popularity a double-edged sword
ROSE WAGNER PERFORMING ARTS CENTER Four years after it was completed, the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center is a thriving complex that has become home to at least six established Utah arts groups while offering public stages to dozens of smaller ones.

  • Setting the stage for 'Ragtime'
'Ragtime' who's who The musical is directed by Ron Jewett and Andrew Barrus. The production is double-cast and stars Hale Centre newcomers Trevor Jerome and Carleton Bluford as Coalhouse, Clotile Bonner and Josephine Scere as Sarah, Meghan Parrish and Kathryn Little as Mother, Scott D. Morgan and David Weekes as Father, and Kelly DeHaan and Thomas Every as Tateh.

  • HBO's 'Entourage' rags on Tinseltown celebs and heads to Sundance in its second season
Part of what gives the HBO series "Entourage" its bite is what is heard and not seen -- the way it talks about Hollywood's elite with a certain sting. Like when one of the characters claims that Warren Beatty had "Heaven Can Wait" posters recalled because the artwork made him look anatomically smaller than he liked. Or the mention of a certain cast member of "Ocean's Eleven" personally buying up $3 million in tickets on the film's first night to ensure it opened at No. 1.

  • Choir to showcase talent and technique
There is much more to the Utah Baroque Ensemble than Baroque music, and the 35-voice choir will travel to England this summer to help teach the art of singing. The ensemble will perform its tour repertoire Saturday in Salt Lake's Cathedral of the Madeleine.

  • Forget about summer -- new trailers are prepping for fall and beyond
As you celebrate your Memorial Day weekend, you're probably not thinking about what you will be doing next Memorial Day weekend -- or even this fall. Hollywood is thinking about it, though, and putting movie trailers in theaters so you will be, too.
