 Food & Drinks News:
  • Dining Out: Hapa Grill is pretty and tasty, but not always a great value
KIMBALL JUNCTION -- "Hapa" is a Hawaiian term for an individual of mixed heritage, initially coined to describe children born to the state's growing population of Hawaiian and Caucasian couples. Its use has grown to mean "half and half" in many situations. For owners of the new Hapa Grill at the Redstone Village in Kimball Junction, the name helps define the food and atmosphere, which is Asian fusion with fresh influence from the Pacific Islands.

  • Cuisine Quest
Salt Lake City's Cowboy Grub restaurant is alive and kicking. Owner Chris Summerhays recently negotiated a new lease for his Western-themed restaurant at 2350 S. Foothill Drive, that "hopefully will keep me in business 30 more years." About six weeks ago, however, Summerhays wasn't as certain about the restaurant's future because he and the landlord could not come to an agreement. Summerhays even e-mailed The Salt Lake Tribune saying the restaurant his father started in 1974 would soon expire.
