Classical tonight! There's something for everyone in the 2005-06 music and dance seasonsOnce again the classical-music and dance season is under way.
With the Utah Symphony kicking off its 2005-06 performances last week, it looks as if there is truly something for everyone.
This year will be a little different from the past. Ballet West, to save on production costs, has made some adjustments so that its season will open in December with that annual holiday tradition, "The Nutcracker.

Lost may have sparked growth of sci-fi showsWith a few notable exceptions, network television has largely avoided sciencefiction/fantasy shows over the past few years.
"The X-Files" was a big hit on Fox, and "Buffy," "Angel" and various "Star Treks" have found more limited success on smaller networks UPN and the WB. But, for the most part, shows in the "genre" (as its known) have mostly been found on cable and in syndication.

Hot dogs chill out at Draper poolGleeful yelps and barks could be heard a block away from the Draper pool Saturday as more than 100 dogs turned the facility into a canine water park.
Some took flailing leaps off the diving boards while others were more cautious and ventured only ankle deep. Their soaked-to-the-bone humans threw balls to fetch and made sure everybody played nice.

Seniors from all over Salt Lake County gathered at the West Jordan Senior Center Wednesday for the county’s first-ever Healthy Aging Day. The event, part of National Healthy Aging Month, encouraged the county’s 110,000 seniors to practice healthy habits for physical and mental well-being.
